How lipid and protein synthesis at the ER shapes organelle architecture?

The ER provides most other membranes with lipids and membrane proteins. We want to understand how it organizes in time and space to provide the various contact sites with the required set of molecules. During xenophagy, the ER mediates the formation of autophagosomes around intracellular bacteria. We will characterize how ER-mediated xenophagy competes with bacterial intrinsic resistance and immune evasion.
