We are excited to invite you to an upcoming workshop introducing the NHR Network for Computational Life Sciences and the wide range of services available at NHR-Nord in Göttingen, presented by Anja Gerbes.
These services can complement your local computing resources and provide powerful support for your research. Whether you are a researcher, academic, or student, this session will help you discover how to leverage high-performance computing and expert consulting for your work.
📅 Date & Time: Monday, 25 August 2025, 3:00 – 5:00 PM
💻 Location: Online via Zoom → Join here
Introduction to the NHR Alliance – Germany’s nationwide initiative for high-performance computing.
Presentation on NHR-Nord@Göttingen – services and opportunities at Göttingen’s computing center.
Service Portfolio – tailored advice, training, and specialized computing resources.
Science Domains – disciplines supported by NHR centers.
KISSKI AI Service Center – infrastructure for sensitive and critical AI applications.
Access to Computing Clusters – practical information on how to get started.
Wrap-up – key takeaways and resources.
The National High-Performance Computing (NHR) program is an integral part of Germany’s HPC infrastructure, classified as Tier 2. With nine centers nationwide, NHR provides universities with free access to powerful computing resources and expert support.
Cutting-edge computing resources across domains including Life Sciences, Digital Humanities, and AI.
Comprehensive support services – training, consulting, and funding opportunities for early-career researchers.
Robust HPC infrastructure and a rich scientific software stack.
AI-as-a-Service through KISSKI and SAIA, including scalable models, GPUs, and LLMs.
Pre-installed tools (e.g., Jupyter HPC, Python, Conda, TensorFlow/PyTorch with GPU acceleration).
Expert consulting and collaborations with leading institutions in computational biology and biomedical data science.
Support for large-scale projects such as genomic analysis, molecular dynamics, and AI-driven drug discovery.
University staff: Easy access to Tier 3 (local clusters) or Tier 2 (NHR systems such as Emmy and Grete) with support for research, teaching, and collaborations.
KISSKI AI Service Center: Secure, flexible infrastructure for AI training and inference, available free of charge.
We look forward to welcoming you to the workshop and helping you unlock the full potential of these exceptional resources!
