Ana J. García-Sáez will succeed Hartmut Michel and become the first first female Director of the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics starting October 1st. She will head the new Department of Membrane Dynamics at the MPI where she will enhance our understanding of the molecular principles behind regulated cell death and its failure in certain diseases, such as cancer, using state-of-the-art microscopy which will lead to the development or improvement of drugs and medical therapies .
